In collaboration with Bruzzy Westheimer, UNT graduate ('65) and longstanding supporter of the university, the college is hosting the 2023 Westheimer Competition! This competition will give teams of 3 UNT Ryan College of Business students the opportunity to address an important question as it relates to the business world and pitch their presentation to a panel of judges for a chance to win up to $3,000 ($1,000 per student). To enter the competition, teams must select a competition question and submit a draft/outline of their presentation that addresses their selected topic. All submissions will then be reviewed and up to ten teams will be selected to compete in the final evaluation round.

Topics to choose from include: 

• What are the essential skills a student must master while earning a business degree in order to successfully launch their career, and why?

• Is maximizing shareholder wealth still an appropriate goal for corporations?
• What are best practices for employers to hire, train, and retain a younger generation of talent?
• How should a company react to repair its brand image after adverse publicity?
• How has the trend of remote work affected the workplace, and what are the benefits and impediments it creates for companies?
