The Information Technology & Decision Sciences (ITDS) Department at UNT would like to recognize Mr. Henry Olofin, who is graduating with an MS in Business Analytics this December, for his outstanding work as a teaching assistant (TA) and for his contribution to coordinating the work of the ITDS TA team.

Olofin said that data analytics exposed him to a whole new background and environment, especially as a person who was unfamiliar with data analytics and came from a non-data analytics education background.

“UNT Data Analytics has given me the right skills and knowledge to conquer the job market,” he said.

When asked which professors were influential in his data analytics education journey, Olofin shouted out Professor Kashif Saeed, who taught him how the industry looks at data warehousing and his constant advice going through his job search and in life; Dr. Chang Koh,  for his guidance and support as a teaching assistant; Dr. Scott Hamilton for his advice on how to have different perspectives towards life; and Dr. Sameh Shamroukh, who taught him essential life experiences that he will forever use.

As for Olofin’s favorite class, he gave that spot to BCIS 5610 (Data Warehousing).

Taking this class as a new student at UNT was an eye-opener for the great things the ITDS Department had for me. The class was enjoyable and introduced me to new concepts like different types of schemas and was an excellent introduction to UNT and the ITDS Department,” Olofin said.

Outside of data analytics, Olofin’s hobbies include watching movies and tv series, playing volleyball, table tennis and reading.

He said that UNT changed his life and prepared him for the next level in his data analytics career journey.

“UNT has given me a platform to propel me into future endeavors through what I learned from educational and life experiences,” Olofin said.

Once again, congratulations to Henry Olofin for his outstanding contributions as a student and within the ITDS Department.
