Representatives from UNT’s Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program attended ProMat 2023 in Chicago, IL this March. ProMat is the largest international material handling, logistics and supply chain trade show, and is sponsored by MHI, a nationally-acclaimed trade association established in 1945.

Booths and education are provided by over 1,000 leading supply chain solution providers. Presenters discuss trends and technology that will pave the way for the next level of success in supply chain management.

This opportunity stemmed through the networking coordination of Regan Weaver, president of the UNT Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) student organization, and JoAnna Leon, director of Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) membership and MHI College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE). The two met at an international show in Atlanta in 2022, where Weaver expressed that UNT had previously been unable to attend ProMat, but hoped to attend in 2023. Leon made it happen by securing admission and funding for 11 people from UNT to participate in the event.

Leon also arranged a personal session for the group with John Paxton, CEO of MHI. The faculty sponsor for the event was Suman Niranjan, assistant professor of logistics. Other attendees from UNT were Cecilio Olivarri, Chloe Brown, Christopher Mahoney, Christine Truong, Janeth Gabaldon, Vipul Garg, Jarret Pyle, Olivia Wattman, and Zachary Sullivan.
