Hutchison

Biography: 

Dr. Paul D. Hutchison, KPMG Professor of Accounting, began his tenure with UNT in 1998. He received his Ph.D. in Accounting from Texas Tech University in 1997 and also holds M.S. and B.B.A. degrees in accounting from Tech. Further, he received a B.A. in history from Tech in 1976. Dr. Hutchison has a varied professional path before pursuing an academic career that includes experience in healthcare management and consulting, retail management, and historical research. He worked for such companies as William T. Stover Company, West Texas Hospital, J. C. Penney Company, Handleman Company, and the Texas Historical Association. From his varied employment, he has developed expertise in inventory control and purchasing. Over the past 32 years, Dr. Hutchison has been recognized for his excellence in teaching with the UNT College of Business Administration Outstanding Teaching Award and the Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award from Texas Tech. Dr. Hutchison's research interests include cash flow management, governmental accounting, environmental accounting, financial disclosures, international accounting, accounting systems, and research tools. His research has been published in the "The Accounting Review," "Journal of the American Taxation Association," "Accounting Historians Journal," "Advances in Accounting," "Journal of Information Systems," “Journal of International Accounting Research,” "International Journal of Accounting Information Systems," "International Journal of Logistics Management," "CPA Journal," "Today's CPA," and "Tennessee CPA Journal." Dr. Hutchison and his wife Janet, a medical transcriptionist, have three daughters. His interests outside the classroom include snow and water skiing, music, camping, and traveling with his family.
