Dr. Mark Evers serves the University of North Texas as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Director for the CFP Board Registered Financial Planning program.
Dr. Evers has over 15 years of experience in education plus over 2 decades of financial services/planning industry experience. Dr. Evers earned a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University, and an M.S. in Finance and Economics and an M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University. Dr. Evers is also an active Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®) Practitioner and a Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorTM. Dr. Evers has taught numerous finance and business courses at both the collegiate and secondary education level. Recently, he was recognized with the FPA DFW 2024 Chairman's Award and the 2024 UCAN Award for Outstanding Faculty Advisor at UNT. He has also received the 2023 Faculty Award for Exceptional Teaching, 2023 Faculty Award for Exceptional Service, and the 2023 People's Award for Best Contributor by the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at UNT. Dr. Evers also earned the 2020 Instructor of the Year Award in the Personal Finance program at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Evers' research interests include the influence of natural disasters on financial well-being, consumer behavior, and financial decision making. Dr. Evers has been featured in the Lubbock Avalanche Journal, MarketWatch, WalletHub, MoneyGeek.com, on WBAP 820AM 93.3FM - Your Money News, at the 2024 Academy of Financial Services Conference, the NAPFA Spring 2023 National Conference in San Diego, and in the Journal of Insurance Issues. Dr. Evers serves the university on numerous committees, serves on the NAPFA South Region Board of Directors, and serves the community teaching pro-bono Financial Workshops at Gateway Church and other venues in North Texas. Professionally, Dr. Evers serves clients as the Director of Planning and a Wealth Advisor for Concurrent Wealth Management.
