Program Requirements

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 7 to 10 years of professional or managerial experience that requires high levels of responsibility.

The Doctor of Business Administration program only admits for fall semesters.

Required Supplemental Documents:

  • Essay: The essay should address:
    1. the applicant’s goals and motivations for pursuing the DBA degree, as well as detail areas of research interest
    2. the applicant’s plans to balance the time commitment required of the program with their work schedule and other demands.
  • Resume: A current professional resume is required.
  • Three (3) letters/forms of recommendation from supervisors/ professional colleagues who are familiar with your job responsibilities or past professors. Letters of recommendation can either be signed and on letterhead or submitted via the recommendation form (downloadable form). The applicant may upload these to MyUNT or the recommender(s) may email them directly to DBACOBA@unt.edu.
  • Interview: After a candidate’s application is complete the Graduate Programs office will reach out to schedule an interview with selection committee.

GRE or GMAT Requirements

Because of the nature of the DBA and the level of experience (at least seven years) required of applicants, the GMAT or GRE is not required.

Application Deadline

The Doctor of Business Administration program admits on a rolling basis, meaning we will continue to admit students until we reach our enrollment cap. Anyone who applied after admissions has been closed will be invited to update the application to the next admissions cycle.

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprising of faculty and the director of the DBA program. The admission decision will be based on a holistic review of several aspects of the application. Some of these include:

  • Managerial/executive experience
  • Capacity for conducting applied scholarship
  • Compatibility of professional goals with the objectives of the DBA program
  • Motivation and commitment
  • Master’s degree and previous coursework
  • Written and verbal communication skills
