Andrew Shay is a risk management and insurance professional based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with more than 10 years of experience spanning captive insurance, claims analysis, corporate insurance programs, and client relations. He currently serves as Manager, Insurance Risk and Compliance at Caterpillar Inc., where he leads global insurance placements, captive program optimization, and contract risk allocation for a Fortune 100 manufacturer. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas, bringing real-world enterprise risk and insurance experience into the classroom.
Previously, he spent more than eight years at Overhead Door Corporation as Risk Manager, overseeing complex insurance programs across North America, RMIS implementation, claims oversight, and M&A insurance diligence while helping reduce the total cost of risk and recover insured losses. He began his career in claims at Gallagher Bassett, where he managed workers’ compensation claims and earned the company’s 2016 Top 20 Award. Andrew holds an MBA from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and a BBA in Risk Management/Insurance from the University of Georgia, as well as advanced industry designations including ARM, ARM-E, CPCU, CRIS, and MRIS.
