Gopala Ganesh

Gopala “GG” Ganesh is a University Distinguished Teaching Professor of Marketing at the University of North Texas, where he has served since 1983. A recognized leader in marketing education, he has earned numerous national and university-level teaching awards, including the MEA Marketing Educator of the Year (2019), FBD-ACME Outstanding Educator Award (2017), the AMA Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education Award (2005), and the UNT President’s Council Teaching Award (2016).

Dr. Ganesh is an early pioneer in online teaching, having developed and taught fully online marketing research and marketing metrics courses since 2003. He created one of the first undergraduate Marketing Metrics courses in the world—an AMA award‑winning innovation—and later designed its MBA counterpart. His expertise spans marketing metrics, marketing research, online consumer behavior, cross‑cultural research, and multivariate data analysis.

An active scholar, he has published extensively in journals such as the Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of International Consumer Marketing, Journal of Product and Brand Management, and Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice. His two books, An Introduction to Marketing Metrics and Marketing Metrics for Managers, are used in his undergraduate and MBA classes, respectively.

Dr. Ganesh has also led more than three decades of pro‑bono community research projects for cities, libraries, universities, and nonprofits across North Texas, providing data-driven insights to public and civic organizations.

He holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Houston, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
