Hakan Tarakci is an Associate Professor of Decision Sciences in the Information Technology and Decision Sciences (ITDS) Department. He received Ph.D. in Quantitative Methods from Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School of Management. Before joining UNT in 2011, he held positions at Melbourne Business School (University of Melbourne) and Purdue University.
Dr. Tarakci's research spans supply chain management, maintenance outsourcing contracts, inventory management, and the application of game theory and quantitative modeling to operations problems. His work has appeared in leading journals including the International Journal of Production Economics, European Journal of Operational Research, IIE Transactions, and Decision Support Systems, among others. He has also applied his expertise to healthcare and humanitarian operations, exploring topics such as telemedicine staffing, wearable health devices, and disaster response logistics.
Dr. Tarakci teaches courses in management science, business statistics, and model-based business intelligence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
