Javier Rubio-Herrero, PhD, is an assistant professor in the department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences. He earned a PhD in Operations Research from Rutgers University and a MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His dissertation work won the INFORMS New Jersey Chapter Student Contest. He also obtained a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Seville (Spain)
Before joining UNT in Fall of 2020, Dr. Rubio-Herrero was an assistant professor in the Engineering Department at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
Dr. Rubio is an active researcher in mathematical optimization, especially in the areas of supply chain, logistics, and transportation. His work has been published in journals like the European Journal of Operational Research, Annals of Operations Research, or Transportation, among others.
