Justin B. Hawkins is an educator and communication specialist who brings nearly two decades of teaching and leadership experience to the University of North Texas. As Division Chair of Speech and Foreign Languages at North Central Texas College, he has taught thousands of students across courses in public speaking, human communication, business and professional communication, argumentation, and mass communication. At UNT, he teaches Contemporary Business Writing and Presentation Skills, helping students strengthen their professional presence and communicate with clarity in today’s fast‑moving business environment.
Justin’s approach to teaching is grounded in student‑centered learning—he believes communication is a skill built through practice, confidence, and real‑world application. In his leadership roles, he’s known for collaboration, transparency, and a commitment to creating supportive academic communities where both faculty and students can thrive.
His work has been recognized through multiple awards, including the NCTC Honors Program Faculty Award, the Quality Matters Certified Online Instructor distinction, and UNT’s “Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student.” His service and dedication have also been acknowledged through institutional honors such as the “NCTC Extra Mile Award.”
