Mariya Gavrilova Aguilar

Dr. Gavrilova Aguilar is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Management in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in human resource management, compensation and benefits, leadership, and organizational design and change. She has a PhD in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement from the University of North Texas and has earned the SHRM-SCP certification.

Her primary research interests include improving the workplace through HR initiatives, examining how students construct a professional identity, aligning university curricula with industry demands, using experiential learning exercises to improve management education, and evaluating teaching and mentoring effectiveness. Her research has been published in journals such as Journal of Management Education, Management Teaching Review, Journal of Education of Business, and Advances in Developing Human Resources. Currently, she also serves as Director of Student Experience at The People Center. Dr. Gavrilova Aguilar is actively involved in the Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (MOBTS) and DallasHR where she serves on various committees to advance the HR profession. She also serves as a reviewer for academic journals and co-advises the UNT SHRM student chapter.
