Nolan Gaffney joined the University of North Texas in the Fall of 2012 after earning his Ph.D. in International Strategy from the University of Memphis. He is a member of the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, and the Southern Management Association. Prior to joining academia, he worked for an international transportation firm holding management posts in various US cities (Oakland, CA; Seattle, WA; Norfolk, VA; and Newark, NJ) in roles as diverse as Marketing and Operations Management, as well as participated in executive training in Singapore.
Academic Interests
His research focus is on the institutional, cultural, and competitive drivers of MNE outward foreign direct investment decisions. He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences, as well as published in leading International Business journals such as Journal of World Business, Management International Review, and International Business Review. He received the 2015 Outstanding Junior Faculty Research Award from the G. Brint Ryan College of Business.
