Hello, my name is Anthony Aguilar and I am in my fourth year at UNT. During my time
here I have been blessed to develop a plethora of skills including leadership, time
management, and communication through ASP and officer positions in Sigma Nu Fraternity.
I found my passion for accounting by tutoring friends in the introductory accounting
courses. I am graduating from the BS/MS program Spring 2025, where I will then get
my CPA license and start auditing for a public accounting firm.
Hi, my name is Rebekah Beard, and I’m a junior at the University of North Texas pursuing
a BS/MS in Accounting. As the first person in my family to pursue accountancy, I cherish
the hard work ethic my family has instilled in me and their unwavering support. Throughout
school, I strive to help my peers grow into well-rounded professionals and transfer
my passion for uplifting others into the workplace. For summer 2023, I’ve had the
opportunity to intern with Ernst and Young and learn about their values, mission,
and opportunities within a Big Four firm. My internship experience has taught me new
skills like technical accounting while strengthening others, such as utilizing software
systems and applying concepts learned from class. In the near future, I plan on specializing
in audit and completing the CPA exam while trying to find a great company to work
with that aligns with my values.
Growing up, my hero was Alex P. Keaton from the 1980’s sitcom Family Ties. I loved
money and math, and it was no surprise to anyone who knew me that I chose to study
accounting at UNT through the Accounting Scholars Program. ASP has provided me with
great opportunities and continues to prepare me for a career in tax accounting.
When I am not studying, I am dancing. I enrolled in my first dance class at age 2 and have performed in The Nutcracker for 15 years. I served as captain of my drill team in high school and completed Vaganova ballet training at Denton Ballet Academy, which is where I currently teach. In addition, I co-founded Studio D, which focuses on mentorship and choreography for young, competition dancers.
You can always find me juggling multiple jobs and activities, as I thrive on staying busy. During semester breaks, I also work in the office of Pros PM, a property management company, and I am especially excited to do my accounting internship at KHA. I am looking forward to a career in accounting after graduating in 2025 with my integrated B.S./M.S. degree in taxation.
I'm a BS/MS accounting major that's going to graduate with my master's in 2024. I
chose accounting because it's a lot of fun for me to go through my work and solve
the puzzles I am given. I enjoy working with money and being able to find the best
solution for my work, and I'm looking forward to bringing my mindset to the workforce.
I'm currently working toward my CPA, which should be complete 2024-2025. As for hobbies
I enjoy cooking and reading, dumplings are a personal favorite.
My name is Yichen Gu. I am an international student from Beijing, China. I am currently
in the BS/MS accounting program at UNT; I will graduate in Fall 2024. I want to be
certified as a CPA in the future after graduation. I chose accounting because the
people I met in my recruiting season were all very nice and I felt comfortable when
communicating with them, which means I want to work with people like them in my future
accounting career. My first internship will be with EY in Summer 2023. I am a business
ambassador of RCOB, a member of Beta Alpha Psi, and a campus ambassador of Becker.
My name is Angel Madrigal, and I'm a first-generation student pursuing my BS/MS in
Accounting with an expected graduation in Spring 2025. I plan on focusing on the audit
field for my master's degree. Aside from ASP, I am a part of the Honors College and
have had the opportunity to serve as a Supplemental Instructor for two different accounting
courses. After college, I plan to obtain my CPA license and begin my career in public
accounting. Outside of school, I like to spend time with my family and cats, be outdoors,
and learn new things.
My name is Emily Merritt. I am currently pursuing the BS/MS degree in accounting with
a focus in taxation and I plan to graduate in the Spring of 2025. When I first came
to the G. Brint Ryan College of Business, I was unsure of which major I wanted to
declare. After taking my first two accounting courses, I knew I found something I
enjoyed! After being recruited to the Accounting Scholars Program and attending meetings
with various accounting professionals, I knew this area of study and program were
a perfect match for me. Upon graduation, I plan to take the CPA exams and work for
a public accounting firm. I am always looking for opportunities to further my knowledge
of taxation and connect with others!
My name is Dana Na, and I am currently pursing a degree in BS/MS Accounting with a
focus on taxation. My expected graduation date is May 2025, and I plan to sit for
my CPA exam in spring of 2025. During my time at UNT, I have had the privilege of
being the Vice President and Special Projects Director in Beta Alpha Psi. Through
Beta Alpha Psi, I have met numerous alums and created lifelong connections with fellow
members. I am also fluent in Korean and am actively learning more about my culture!
I am passionate about continuously learning and growing, as I believe growth is essential
to advancing in my career.
An Illinois native; I came to North Texas as a jazz bass major before switching to
BS/MS in accounting. I settled upon accounting because I enjoy problem-solving. During
my time at UNT, I have served as a Supplemental Instructor, and as Treasurer of the
Professional Accounting Student Society. I enjoy cheering for the Mean Green, chances
are you will see me in the student section.
I'm Vanessa Tello Rubio and in May 2026, I'll finish both my bachelor's and master's
degrees in accounting. Along with joining the Audit and Assurance service line, I
intend to obtain my CPA license. As a first-generation student, I aspire to be a high
achiever in the work field, with my intrinsic motivation guiding me toward success.
Skills that I bring to the table are attention to detail, analytic skills, excellent
communication, reliability, and confidence. Furthermore, Summer of 2023 I finished
a Discovery 1 internship with Deloitte where I gained knowledge of all the many different
accounting service lines. We worked on an M&A case simulation and enhanced my skills
beyond the classroom. I plan to continue my career journey with Deloitte to become
a Discovery 2 intern and dig deeper into Auditing for the Summer of 2024. Lastly,
I’m a Supplemental Instructor for Managerial Accounting and involved in many organizations
such as the Accounting Scholars Program, Women of Business, and Emerald Eagle Scholars.
I'm thankful for all the opportunities I’ve been given so far, can’t wait to learn
more and see what the future holds for me.
My name is Renee Wilhite and I am in the BS/MS Accounting Program at UNT. Numbers
have always come naturally to me and I loved the idea of specializing, so accounting
just made sense. I am involved with PASS, the Professional Accounting Student Society,
and was an Accounting Supplemental Instructor for a year and a half. I plan to graduate
from the master's portion in December 2025 with a concentration in taxation. I aspire
to be both a CPA and CMA. A fun fact is, I am active in Scouts and try to go camping
monthly.
