The rankings are based on the number of research publications in three of the top peer-reviewed journals in the field of entrepreneurship over the past five years: Journal of Business Venturing (JBV)Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (ETP), and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (SEJ) — all of which are listed in the prestigious Financial Times Top 50 journals.

This distinction highlights the research contributions of UNT faculty, particularly Dr. Jeffrey Chandler, Dr. Jeremy Short, and Dr. Marcus Wolfe, who have been instrumental in elevating UNT’s national research profile in entrepreneurship. Dr. Short holds the G. Brint Ryan Chair in Entrepreneurship, Dr. Wolfe serves as Academic Director of the Murphy Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Dr. Chandler holds the D’Souza Family Professorship in Entrepreneurship.

The TCU Global University Rankings provide a data-driven measure of research output from universities across the U.S. and globally, focusing exclusively on productivity in leading entrepreneurship journals.

“UNT’s growing reputation in entrepreneurship research is a testament to the caliber and dedication of our faculty,” said Dr. Marcus Wolfe, Academic Director of the Murphy Center. “Through collaborative scholarship and a strong research culture, we are positioning UNT as a leading voice in the study of innovation and venture creation.”

The team’s publications across JBV, ETP, and SEJ have examined timely and critical topics in entrepreneurship ranging from crowdfunding to social entrepreneurship to entrepreneurial leadership and character.

“This recognition is particularly meaningful because it reflects our sustained contributions over time to the very top journals in the field,” added Dr. Jeffrey Chandler, D’Souza Family Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship. “We are proud to help shape the academic conversation around entrepreneurship from right here at UNT.”
