Application Deadline: February 1, 2024

The Department of Accounting at the G. Brint Ryan College of Business is proud to collaborate with the Deloitte Foundation to promote a more equitable future in the profession of accounting. To that end, the Deloitte Foundation and our department will sponsor a limited number of full scholarships to our MS Accounting or MS Taxation programs to students who demonstrate a knowledge and appreciation for the challenges faced by first-generation students and economically underprivileged college students. Eligible students should meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a Historically Black College University (HBCU), Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), or other accredited University, or University in the United States.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in accounting from an accredited program (Note: Undergraduate finance or other business majors would also be eligible if they can complete the master’s of accounting program by December 2025 or May 2026).
  • Strong academic track record (i.e., minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale).
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must meet the standards for admission into a Deloitte Foundation selected AACSB accredited College/University master’s program in accounting, master’s of tax program, or master’s of accounting program with a concentration in audit, advisory, or tax.
  • Have an interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and obtaining their CPA, but not presently a CPA.
  • Selected participants must matriculate to the University’s Master of Science in Accounting or Master of Science in Taxation program for the duration of the period August 2024 and complete such program by December 2025, or for the duration of the period January 2025 and complete the program by May 2026.

In the spirit of supporting applicants who are first-generation or economically underprivileged, applicants shall demonstrate a knowledge and appreciation for the challenges faced by members of such demographic groups in the field of public accountancy. In evaluating each student’s application, in addition to an applicant’s “first generation” or economically disadvantaged status, the scholarship committee will consider a student’s personal statement, academic work, campus activities, and community service relevant to the field of public accountancy. The University will consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or other status prohibited or disfavored by law.
