The RCoB PhD Program provides funding support to qualified doctoral students for up to four years, based on academic performance. Students making satisfactory progress normally receive a tuition benefit that covers almost all tuition and fees, are eligible for a waiver of out-of-state tuition, and receive funding in the form of a graduate assistantship and student health insurance. The assistantship and scholarship awards are announced when admission decisions are made.
Assistantships and scholarships are awarded competitively and are approved in consultation with the Department Chair and the appropriate departmental committee, with recommendations forwarded to the RCoB Ph.D. Program Office. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree to be considered for funding in the form of an assistantship for the doctoral program. Continuation of the Graduate Assistant position each term depends on satisfactory progress as a (TA, TF, RA, GSA): Quality of Work; Oral and Written Communication; Accountability and Self-Management; and Subject Knowledge and Learning Ability.
Full-time doctoral students receive an annual stipend of $30,000 over 12 months, employed for a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Our program is a full-time, in-residence, research-based program, and our students are active members of the department through research and teaching.
