MBA Program Structure

Credit Hours

All MBA programs at the University of North Texas require 36 credit hours (12 courses). MBA concentrations are listed below.

Format

  • If a concentration is identified as “online,” it can be completed entirely online or in a hybrid format (a mix of online and on-campus courses).
  • All MBA programs—even those not designated as fully online—can be customized with a blend of online and on-campus classes.

Flexible Online Options

  • Courses are offered in a flexible, asynchronous format, allowing you to balance school, work, and life commitments.
  • Accelerated schedules include 8-week sessions in Fall and Spring and 5-week sessions in Summer.

On-Campus Options (Denton & Frisco)

  • Evening classes meet once per week from 6:30 PM – 9:20 PM.
  • Courses follow a traditional 16-week semester format.
  • Course availability in Frisco is more limited than Denton. Please inquire if you have questions.

Hybrid MBA Concentrations

Programs that require some on-campus learning.

Time to Completion

  • Students may pursue the MBA part-time (3–6 credit hours per semester) or full-time (9 to 12 credit hours per semester).
  • On average, part-time students complete the MBA in 18 months to 2 years by taking 2–3 classes per term.
  • Pacing examples:
    • Working full-time: Take 6 hours (part-time) without interruption, yielding a 24-month finish.
    • Working part-time: Take 9 hours (full-time) without interruption, yielding a 16 month finish.

Prerequisites & Background Coursework

  • After admission, transcripts are reviewed to determine if the Accounting Foundations background module is required.
  • If required, this module is:
    • Completed online through LinkedIn Learning (free for UNT students).
    • Assessed with a quiz on Canvas (score of 80% or higher required; unlimited attempts allowed).
  • Important notes:
    • This is not a UNT course and does not appear on transcripts.
    • It is not required before applying, but must be completed register for MBA coursework such as Accounting, Finance, and Marketing.
