Richard Menard is the Director of Global Learning and Experience at the University of North Texas. He catalyzed UNT’s Study Abroad Program by initiating and coordinating the implementation and management of a Studio Abroad software system. In addition to re-designing the advising structure and application procedures for scholarships and entry into the program Mr. Menard transitioned the study abroad scholarship fund into a competitive scholarship process for UNT students.

As the Study Abroad Advisor and International Exchange Coordinator for Miami University in Ohio, Mr. Menard improved the advising process for study abroad that resulted in 42.9% of undergraduate students studying abroad by the time they graduated. At that time, Miami University was the leading public university in the United States for undergraduate students with a study abroad experience.

While the Study Abroad Counselor and International Exchange Coordinator at Texas Tech University Mr. Menard increased participation in study abroad by 15% to 20% every year. He established a U.S Department of State Passport Agency, shaped the Study Abroad Association for returning study abroad students, and created a Peace Corps’ Master’s International Graduate Program – the first of its kind in Texas.

Mr. Menard received a BA in history from Texas Tech University and an MA at the University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies where he specialized in International Conflict.
