Katie DeWaters graduated with an MBA with an emphasis in Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management from the University of North Texas in 2021. According to Katie, her time spent at UNT was valuable, challenging and overall a worthwhile experience. She loved all of her Human Resources classes, especially the course with Dr. Mariya Gavrilova Aguilar. The class had thought-provoking conversations around HR problems, and worked in teams on challenging assignments.

“I met a number of individuals through my program and made connections with professors & business professionals that were a key piece in my development, learning, and building my professional network,” Katie said.

Soon after her MBA program, she was moved into a new Human Resources role supporting Technology Services department in employee relations, development, performance management, and hiring. She was promoted within 6 months after starting this new role. Katie attributes her promotion to her MBA and the ability to directly apply this degree to her new position.

In her current role, she is the Manager of Early Talent Recruiting, overseeing the sourcing, recruiting, hiring, and program experience of over 200 yearly full-time entry-level (Management Trainee/EFLS) and internship roles at BNSF Railway.

UNT’s Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management ranks #1 in the nation by MBACentral.org.
