Biography: 

José currently serves as the UNT G. Brint Ryan College of Business’ Executive Director for the Professional Leadership Program (PLP).  He has served PLP as a mentor and Advisory Board member.  He was formerly the Associate Director for Program Development for the Jim McNatt Institute for Logistics Research and also the Center for Logistics & Supply Chain Management. He is also an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Marketing, Logistics, and Operations Management, teaching Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He began his career at UNT in 2008 as Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects. He previously served as Assistant Director of Budgets and Intramural Programs for the Vice President for Research and Economic Development.

Here at UNT he was responsible for negotiating various contracts and grants for research. One notable award was a $2 million grant from the State Energy Conservation Office to install 3 wind turbines to provide power to Apogee Stadium. Recently, José was instrumental in securing JDA software valued at $249,000 for the Complex Logistics Systems Lab to be used for transportation modeling and simulation.

Prior to UNT, José spent over 8 years in a design profession and over 17 years in various management roles at Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES)-Texas A&M University. He played an integral part in leading TEES from $70 million to $100 million in research funding in five years. Also while at Texas A&M University José was awarded in 2001 the ATMentor of the Year Award for outstanding dedication and commitment to the students of Texas A&M.

José was born and raised in Bryan –College Station, TX. He is a first generation Texas A&M University graduate with an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture in 1986 and an MBA in Marketing from the Mays Business School in 2002. He enjoys traveling, watching movies, and training. He also enjoys music, art, muscle cars, college football, dancing, playing guitar, playing billiards, wing shooting, skeet-shooting, coaching, running and competing in triathlons.
