Biography: 

He received his BS and MS from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) and Ph.D. from Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2006, 2008 and 2013, respectively. He won three postdoctoral fellowships at Industrial Engineering lab-Ecole Central Paris (France), Stochastic Modeling and Analysis of Communication Systems (SMACS) Group at Dep. of Telecommunications and Information Processing (TELIN) -Ghent University (Belgium), Dep. of Industrial & Systems Engineering-Mississippi State University (USA). Moreover, he was visiting scholar at Center for Applied Optimization, Dep. of Industrial and Systems Engineering-University of Florida (USA), at Dep. of Electrical Engineering-National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, and at Dep. of Industrial Engineering-Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. Also, he worked at Optym as a senior systems engineer and at A Model Of Reality Inc. as a system design engineer in the USA and several other companies in different industry sectors.

He is also currently editing the "Handbook of Smart Energy Systems" with Prof. Enrico Zio and Prof. Panos M. Pardalos. Prof. Fathi is an active member of several societies and institutions and serves as an associate editor for AI in Business Journal, Energy Systems Journal, and Operations Research Forum Journal. His current research interests include Operations Research, Management Science, Data Science, Energy and sustainability, Healthcare, AI in Business, Cybersecurity and Information Systems, Social Goods, and Disrupting Human Trafficking and Illicit Markets.
