Wang

Biography: 

Hillary Wang is currently a Lecturer of Accounting at the University of North Texas, teaching Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Intermediate Accounting courses.  Hillary obtained her B.B.A. and M.S.A. in Accounting and Taxation from Texas Tech University, graduating as the Valedictorian of the Rawls College of Business and the Chancellor’s “Top Scholar.”

She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas as a member of the Real Estate Tax team. She analyzed and interpreted financials, prepared and reviewed tax returns at state, federal, and international levels, and developed extensive knowledge of REITs. Additionally, she was a leader at PwC in campus recruiting and corporate responsibility projects. She then moved to BKM Sowan Horan, a mid-market firm, where she did tax work on a broader scope- covering almost every kind of taxable entity in industries including technology, real estate, oil and gas, restaurant/retail, financial services, healthcare, etc.

In 2018, Hillary began teaching at the University of North Texas and found her passion. As an instructor her strengths include her abilities to break down complex topics in ways students can easily understand, create course content and resources that enhance student learning, and encourage and motivate students to grow and reach their full potential. As a faculty member, her strengths are collaborative and dependable teamwork, effective teaching in numerous accounting courses, and diligence in performing duties above and beyond what is required.

Outside of work, Hillary’s life passion is empowering individuals and communities both locally and abroad. In between her undergraduate and graduate studies, she moved to Nigeria and worked at an orphanage taking care of 40 kids. She did accounting work there as well and participated in community microfinance groups. In addition to her time in Nigeria, she has travelled the world (6 continents) doing various non-profit and humanitarian aid work. This global perspective enhances her ability to connect with students and impact her community.
